Funding: Operative Program Italia/Malta 2014/2020
The main objective of the Program is to promote sustainable growth in the Mediterranean area by fostering innovative concepts and practices and a reasonable use of resources and by supporting social integration through an integrated and territorially based cooperation approach.
Italy and Malta are working together in the transnational European Cooperation Programme for the Mediterranean area. The transnational setup allows them to tackle challenges beyond national borders, such as the rise of low carbon economy, the protection of natural and cultural resources and the strengthening of innovation.
Proposal: the object consists in a mobile sea platform completely robotized.
This platform is energetically independent and it gets energy out of sea movement, sun and wind.
The storage system must be such as to guarantee enough electric capacity for all the devices, drones and for return operations, in case of breakdown.
The platform will be equipped with suitable devices for:
- actions of cleaning of oil spills in the open sea,
- control and first aid,
- control and data acquisition in deep too,
- images acquisition of underwater archaeology,
- aerial and underwater view,
- visual control..
The platform will be equipped with suitable systems for:
- data processing and data satellite communication,
- satellite navigation system, satellite and radio connection,
- transmission of presence and system for automatic fast moving away,
- remote control guide,
- automatic guide and return capability.
The platform will have:
- systems for measurement of physical and chemical parameters of the sea, even in great depth (temperature, electrical conductivity (salinity), O2 content, pollutants, speed of sound, deep undercurrents – speed and direction, 3D measurement of glaciers and waves etc.);
- suction systems of oil spills or use of precipitation products,
- laser system for underwater vision and measurement (underwater archaeology, underwater pipes, inspection and analysis of oil platform etc.),
- underwater and aerial control and communication systems (boats in trouble, persons at sea, presence of big cetaceans etc.).
The platform must have zero emissions and zero impact on the environment in case of sinking.
The proposal should have a shared patent.
Mobile marine platform “Perpetua”
The basic idea of the new prototype implementation concerns at least three essential chapters: the first is the energetic side, the second is the robotic technology and the third is the integration of Perpetua in the remote sensing systems already in use.
The proposal foresees a completely remote and self-governing system performing several functions of measurement, action and control in the open sea, under the supervision of an Organization probably identifiable as Civil Defence, ARPA or other.
